About this video

In this live session filmed during one of Robert Simic's trainings, a lawyer works with Robert on an inner conflict about his career, and the video follows the session all the way to the end.

He explains that he started in law with real passion, then felt the heart had gone out of it. He tried other paths, but his career kept calling him back, along with his family's support and the identity he'd built around it. He describes being pulled from here to there and not feeling able to choose either side.

Robert asks about the intention behind each side, and the man finds that both want the same thing. What follows is quiet and emotional. He describes going higher and higher, as if each question pressed a higher floor button in an elevator, until he saw everyone from above and felt a unity, peace and joy he says he'd never felt before. Robert points out that all of it happened inside the man, and that he only guided the process. Afterwards he says he can't see the conflict any more, and that it now looks childish to him. Changing career, he says, won't be an option anymore. His direction is clear, and he wants that peace and unity in everything else he does.
